After an ice age brought the Ordovician period to an end, the Silurian period started. During this time, everything had made a great change. The land was now ready to be colonized, and plants had diversified, making food through photosynthesis. Meanwhile, the fish had evolved to look even more modern, and at the end of the period, they grew jaws, finally starting to take small steps towards domination of the seas. As well as this, the arthropods had changed a lot. The eurypterids had diversified, and had grown to extreme sizes, making their current dominion of the seas absolute. Smaller arthropods, such as the scorpions and millipedes, had brought out one of their greatest advantages: stepping out of the sea and making a home on land. Meanwhile, the trilobites were still diverse, and were still limited to the water. Now, the land and sea were both perfectly filled with a plethora of wildlife.
